RALEIGH, N.C. -- A Raleigh man is dead after what is being called a freak accident on Oak Island.

Family members say 37-year-old Lee Dingle was playing with three of his children when an intense wave slammed him into the sand, breaking his neck.

Beach-goers, including several of his children, tried to revive him, but were unsuccessful.

Dingle was the president at Atlas Engineering. He leaves behind a wife and six children.

A GoFundMe page has raised over $150,000.

Dingle's organs will reportedly be donated to help dozens of people.
