FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- City leaders in Fayetteville say they're working to revitalize downtown and bring more jobs to the area.
- Mayor Mitch Colvin recently purchased a vacant building with hopes of it becoming a restaurant.
- Other projects include renovating The Capitol School along Hay Street to allow 200 more students to attend.
- Downtown realtors said there's been an influx of business in the last five years.
Mayor Mitch Colvin recently purchased a vacant building with hopes of it becoming a restaurant. Other projects include renovating The Capitol School along Hay Street to allow 200 more students to attend.
Downtown realtors said there's been an influx of business in the last five years. Officials added the construction of the baseball stadium and Prince Charles Hotel helped with growth.
"As far as inventory, there's less than a 10 percent vacancy," Realtor, Edric Williams said. "Residential is probably less than that. There's probably a 5 percent vacancy."
City leaders said since April 2019, there are 263 bulding permits citywide. It's costing about $40 million in hopes of keeping more residents in the city.
