DURHAM, N.C. -- Police say they've filed a murder charge against a man accused of assaulting a man who died after hitting his head on the pavement outside of a North Carolina bar.
- A murder charge has been filed against a man after assaulting a man who died after hitting his head on pavement.
- Police say Daniel Mohar, 34, struck Edward Tinvan, 50.
- Tinvan was found unconscious on the sidewalk and died at the hospital two days later.
The judge agreed to continue to hold 34-year-old Daniel Peter Mohar without bond to give the district attorney's office time to hear what the victim's family has to say about the bond.
Police say it started as an argument over a woman at Social Games and Brews the night of June 7, when Mohar struck 50-year-old Edward Tivnan, causing him to hit his head on the pavement.
They say Tivnan was found unconscious on the sidewalk and taken to the hospital but died two days later.
Tivnan's family said they're upset that so many assault charges against Mohar were dismissed and now he's charged with murder. They'll be back in court hoping to find justice for the father of three.
Officials say Mohar has a history of run-ins with the law, including a 2011 conviction for assault with a deadly weapon.
