Moore Square, in eastern downtown, has been under renovation for a year.

It’s been there since 1792, according to the City of Raleigh, and is one of the five squares the city of Raleigh is built around.

It’s one of the many ways Raleigh has preserved green spaces as the city has undergone rapid development.

The $12.5 million renovation should wrap up in the next month or so, and when it's finished the square will feature a café, a splash pad, and a concert area.

A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for August 3, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
