We will have a cloudier start to our day today ahead of a cold front arriving tonight. Our sunny Saturday seems like a far distant memory now, but we'll see a similar sky setting this afternoon. Morning clouds will clear this afternoon allowing for a bright and warm afternoon. Highs will likely peak in the upper 70s to mid 80s thanks to a brighter afternoon and strong southerly winds. Wind speeds will range between 5 to 15 mph with some gusts as high as 25 mph.
A weak and moisture deprived cold front will slide through our area this evening and likely produce a few extra clouds late. Rain chances are poor at best. With moisture extremely limited we'll place a spotty light rain/drizzle chance this evening and tonight. the front will likely stall just to our south tonight, creating a cooler setting for Monday.
The first day of our workweek will be cooler with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. This is all due to being behind today's cold front. With the frontal boundary still in the area, we'll leave a small 10% rain chance with the expectation most if not all will not see rain. The front will lift north late Monday opening the door to a big warm up beginning Tuesday.
Upper level ridging and southerly flow at the ground and aloft will surge temperatures well above normal. Highs Tuesday through Thursday will likely reach the mid to upper 80. Some locations in the Sandhills may climb into the low 90s. To put that in perspective, our normal high for this time of year is 75 degrees.
Looking down the road, our next best chance of significant rainfall and thunderstorms arrives Thursday night into Friday morning. Yes, another workweek ending with rainy, stormy weather. But this time a few showers and storms may spill over and carry into the weekend on Saturday.
