CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Lincoln and Gaston counties on Friday.

• One couple in Gaston county is now lucky to be alive after a tree came crashing down on their home
• The man said he was sitting in his recliner when the tree came down on the house, almost splitting it in two
• Thankfully, his only injury is a fractured rib

Thankfully, his only injury is a fractured rib. He is now out of the hospital.
