ROBBINS, N.C. -- Neighbors in Robbins were in clean-up mode Saturday after they say a tornado touched down in their area.

  • One homeowner says she believes she went through her first tornado
  • Residents near NC 705 say winds picked up around 3 p.m. Friday
  • The National Weather Service has not confirmed if a tornado touched down

Homes along NC 705 and Browns Mill Road saw some of the most damage. Residents say heavy winds picked up a little after 3 p.m. on Friday. Trees and power lines were down all over the city leaving locals in the dark for several hours.

 

 

Homeowner Terri Lynn Brown says she believes she went through her first tornado.

"We ran to the back of the bedroom and heard a big boom," Brown said. "To me it sounded like the windows were popping in. By the time we got back in the bedroom, I was pulling the mattress off the bed and going to climb under there and he said stop. We stopped and the tornado was gone."

The National Weather Service has not confirmed if a tornado touched down in Robbins. Crews are out assessing the damage.
