NORTH CAROLINA -- Several areas in central North Carolina are recovering after a round of severe weather hit the region Saturday.

In Halifax County, a home was damaged as the storm barreled through. The house was pulled off of its foundation, but thankfully, no one was hurt. Officials say a brief weak EF0 tornado touched down a couple hundred yards west of highway 48 early Tuesday morning, then traveled in a northeasterly direction. Winds from that tornado were between 65 to 85 mph.

In Fuquay Varina, there are many downed trees. A driver slammed into one of those trees. He was in the car with his girlfriend and his 2-year-old son. They are all safe.

Highway Patrol says they want people to be careful because trees remain down in the area. They want drivers to be on the look out. Duke Energy is also in the area cleaning up power lines.
