NORTH CAROLINA -- The city of Rocky Mount has announced its newest police chief as George D. Robinson.

Robinson has filled the role of interim police chief since January. 

The 27-year Rocky Mount policeman is described by the department as having "acquired the knowledge and experience necessary to take the top spot."
