WILSON, N.C. (AP) _ A police sergeant in North Carolina is accused of drunken driving and speeding.
- Capt. E.G. Smith with Wilson police tells news outlets a trooper stopped Sgt. C.J. Sanders early Sunday, clocking her driving at 61 mph in a 45 mph
- Smith says Sanders wasn't on duty at the time of her arrest, and was driving a personal vehicle
- Sanders has been placed on administrative duty pending an internal investigation
Capt. E.G. Smith with Wilson police tells news outlets a trooper stopped Sgt. C.J. Sanders early Sunday, clocking her driving at 61 mph (98 kph) in a 45 mph (72 kph) zone. The trooper took her to an intoxilyzer room, where she provided a breath sample that registered at a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 percent.
Smith says Sanders wasn't on duty at the time of her arrest, and was driving a personal vehicle.
She appeared before a Johnson County magistrate, who found probable cause for charges of driving while impaired and speeding. She was released on a written promise to appear.
Sanders has been placed on administrative duty pending an internal investigation.
