CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The next chancellor for UNC Chapel Hill is still unknown.

  • The Board of Trustees held a special, closed meeting Tuesday
  • The trustees are meeting to find a replacement to present the governors
  • Neither the UNC Board of Trustees nor the Board of Governors have a given timeline on when they'll pick a replacement

The Board of Trustees held a special, closed meeting Tuesday to talk about the matter.

Last week, Carol Folt announced her exit in the spring. However, her higher ups at the UNC Board of Governors pushed up her resignation to January 31.

The trustees are meeting to find a replacement to present the governors.

Some of the qualities that the trustee's chair talked about wanting included a deep love for the university, strong work ethic, and an unparalleled understanding of the need for balance on campus.

Neither the UNC Board of Trustees nor the Board of Governors have a given timeline on when they'll pick a replacement.
