PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Pembroke police are asking for your help in finding a person of interest after a woman's body was found Thursday afternoon.

Police found a woman's body lying in a wooded area near train tracks at 7th and Main Streets. Officers are investigating to figure out who could have done this.
Officials haven't identified who the woman is or how old she is.
Police talked to neighbors in the area who said they have a person of interest. After hearing that, they say they checked several homes in the area for the person. There is no word on what they've gathered.
The State Bureau of Investigation is now assisting with the case. In the meantime, investigators sent the woman's body to the State Medical Examiners's Office for identification.
