DURHAM, N.C. -- Some neighbors are complaining that a Duke University fraternity is partying too hard.
- Neighbors say Alpha Delta Phi members are making too much noise
- A homeowner complained to the mayor about recent parties getting too big, too messy and too loud
- City leaders are now looking into the matter to see if any of the members are violating any ordinances
They're talking about the Alpha Delta Phi members who live in houses on Chapel Hill Road.
“The fact that I could hear their music really clearly, you know, five houses down, definitely says something. But like I said it hasn't really bothered me,” said neighbor Ashley Pierce.
But it has bothered some neighbors. Spectrum News obtained one email from a homeowner who complained to the mayor that the recent parties are getting too big, too messy, and too loud. The homeowner admits that the problem isn't as bad as it used to be in recent years.
City leaders are now looking into the matter to see if any of the members are violating any ordinances, but many hope everybody will come to a peaceful resolution before the problem gets too big.
“I would hate to say they can't have any festivities at all like no fun allowed in this area, but I could understand if they could keep the noise down a little bit, I'm sure the neighbors would appreciate it,” said Pierce.
