HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. -- A military plane dropped cargo over a Harnett County neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

  • The cargo, said to be a Humvee, was dropped in a neighborhood in the town of Cameron off Walter Lane
  • Fort Bragg officials say it was part of a regular drill, but the Humvee landed about a mile away from it's intended target
  • Officials will need to look into why that deployment happened too early

The cargo, said to be a Humvee, was dropped in a neighborhood in the town of Cameron off Walter Lane.

Fort Bragg officials say it was part of a regular drill, but the Humvee landed about a mile away from it's intended target.

They say no one was hurt because of two crucial factors.

"One, the delivery system, all the parachutes, deployed like they were supposed to. And the better part is it landed in a rural area, and it did not damage any personal property and no one was injured," said Tom McCollum, with public affairs of Fort Bragg.

Officials will need to look into why that deployment happened too early.
