DURHAM, N.C. -- A local restaurant staple served its last meal. After 26 years, Nana's officially closed its doors, Saturday.
- Owner and chef Scott Howell says he will retire from the business
- Sister restaurant, Nana Steak, will essentially become new Nana's
- Saturday's last meals were served by reservation only
Owner and chef Scott Howell says he will retire from the business and start a new chapter in his life.
"Obviously we're sad that he's moving on to other things and a new adventure," said manager Judah Taylor.
"We're hoping that Nana Steak, our sister restaurant downtown near DPAC, is essentially going to become the new Nana's."
Customers say they will miss the neighborhood feeling the restaurant created.
Managers say the restaurant has been packed every night since the announcement of the closing.
Saturday's last meals were served by reservation only.
