RALEIGH, N.C. -- Don't expect to catch a train at Raleigh Union Station anytime this month.
- Raleigh Union Station opening delayed until July.
- Slope of platform is too steep for federal standards.
- Originally planned to open in 2017.
The station's opening has been delayed by an issue with the slope of the platform.
Amtrak and federal regulations require a maximum two percent slope to ensure wheeled objects, such as strollers and wheelchairs, aren't in danger of rolling off. The current slope is one percent too sleep.
Workers are in the process of shaving down and adding concrete to comply with the standards.
The station was expected to be finished in late 2017, and is now projected to open in July.
