RALEIGH, N.C. -- Jury deliberations began Thursday morning in the trial of former Person County District Attorney Wallace Bradsher.
- Wallace Bradsher faces felony charges.
- Bradsher used to be the district attorney for Caswell and Person counties.
- Closing arguments were held Wednesday.
Investigators accused Bradsher and Former Rockingham County District Attorney Craig Blitzer of hiring each other's wives for no-show jobs while collecting a combined salary of $100,000.
Blitzer took a plea deal last year and testified during Bradsher’s trial.
Bradsher represented himself and continues to maintain his innocence.
During closing arguments, Bradsher called the issue an administrative failure not an intentional criminal act to defraud the state.
Bradsher's charges include felony conspiracy and obtaining property by false pretense.
Jury deliberations will continue Monday.
