DURHAM, N.C. -- A fine-dining staple in Durham is closing its doors for good.
- Nana's Restaurant is closing in Durham.
- Last day of service is June 30.
- Flooding at the restaurant has been an issue in the past.
Chef Scott Howell says he plans to close Nana's Restaurant at the end of the month in order to start a new chapter in his life.
Nana's is known in the community for its upscale New American fare.
The restaurant has also been in the news many times due to continual flooding incidents which have plagued the restaurant for many years.
Howell did not comment as to whether flooding influenced his decision.
Chef Howell is currently pursuing other restaurant opportunities. He is also involved with several other eateries in the Durham area including The Q Shack.
Nana's opened in Durham 26 years ago.
