RALEIGH, N.C. -- Hundreds participated in the Ironman race Sunday, but it was the last time Raleigh will see the triathlon.
- Even includes swimming, biking and a run
- Jackson Laundry won this years Ironman
- First woman to cross finish line was Meredith Kessler
The three-sport event spent several years in the Triangle. It includes a swim, bicycling, and a run across the 70.3-mile course.
Participants say there's a physical and mental component to getting to the finish line.
"To push yourself, to not have anxiety, to keep going under different circumstances. I always say zoom focus. You really focus on what you're doing and focus on what is going on around you, and block out the people around you. But that's everyday life," said Jenny Bozman.
Jackson Laundry won the 2018 Raleigh Ironman, and the first woman to cross the finish line was Meredith Kessler.
