SPRING LAKE, N.C. -- People living in a Spring Lake mobile home park have been without water for five days.

• Residents say they haven't had running water for days
• One resident says he had paid rent, which includes water
• Owner of the property owes $60,000 toward the bill

One man who lives there says the water meter was removed despite paying his rent, which includes water.

The Spring Lake town manager says the owner of the property, Sherman and Hemstreet, owe more than $60,000 toward the water bill. Their last payment of $8,000 was submitted in January of this year.

"We've been taking the clothes to the laundromat and driving to Fayetteville to go to a friend's house to get a shower. Things of that nature. You're not trying to wear out your welcome at one place," resident Aneca Glover said.

Residents received a letter in the mail last week that told them the water will be shut off and to please vacate.
