HENDERSON, N.C. -- A father and son are expected in court Monday in connection with a murder in Henderson late Saturday night.

  • Scottie Lee Bates and his son, Scottie Lee Bates II, are charged. 
  • Jaylin Jones was the victim.
  • Shooting happened late Saturday on Gary Street in Henderson.

Henderson police say 59-year-old Scottie Lee Bates and his son, 21-year-old Scottie Lee Bates II, are charged in the shooting death of 25-year-old Jaylin Jones.

Jones was fatally shot in the 200 block of Gary Street in Henderson around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the younger Bates is the suspected shooter.
