DURHAM – A famous Durham eatery is earning praise in a national publication.

Travel Noire compiled a list of the best black-owned restaurants in each state.

The Saltbox Seafood Joint was named the best in North Carolina.

The publication had this to say: “Simple and seasonal, the seafood at this tiny eatery is as fresh as it gets, with catches like perch, flounder and trout served with sides like fried veggies and slaw salad. Be sure to try the softshell crab when they’re in season!”

The Saltbox is located at 608 North Mangum Street. It’s open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. or until “the fish is sold out.”

Their number is (919) 908-8970.
