FAYETTEVILLE -- The Fayetteville Police Department says it is no longer looking for a mother who was accused of abducting her two children from their grandmother’s home.

They say the Department of Social Services had not issued a court order granting custody to the children's grandmother.

A "kinship agreement" was in place. Those are not held to the same standard as a court order-- meaning the charges against the mother, Catrina Lucas have been dismissed.

Police are still asking Lucas to contact local authorities for a well-being check.

They believe Lucas took the children to New York City.
