RALEIGH – Winning a $200,000 lottery prize put the merry in Merry Christmas for a Warrenton grandfather and his beloved granddaughter.

“It’s going to be a good Christmas,” he said. “She’s been with me since she was little.”

It was a good day for Richardson when he walked into Arcola Grocery on N.C. 43 in Warrenton and purchased a $500 Frenzy scratch-off ticket.

“I scratched the ticket and saw the match 27. I couldn’t’ believe it. I had to show it to the clerk to make sure I wasn’t seeing things,” he said.

The jolly grandfather claimed the prize Monday and will take home $139,000 after taxes.

Officials say one top prize winner still remains out of the six other prizes valued at $200,000.
