Outdoor plans are a must with the recent more fall-like weather that has settled in across the region this weekend. Beautiful blue skies along with comfortable temperatures in the 70s are all it takes to draw most outside into the sunshine for an outdoor stroll. However, our stretch of dry weather is starting to take its toll. During your walk, you may notice the landscape and neighborhood lawns are looking a little less lush.

While the drier weather in comparison to the summer season that sets in during the fall season is no surprise, it will only exacerbate the already dry conditions noted across parts of the state. Sunday will mark our 19th day without any measurable rainfall at the RDU Airport, the official site for recording various daily weather data for Raleigh.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, central North Carolina is currently experiencing "abnormally dry" conditions. With very little rain in the forecast this week, if any at all, the abnormally dry conditions could move into the moderate drought category. Other areas of the state may begin to notice abnormally dry conditions develop, depending on how long this stretch of dry weather lasts.
