DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University in Durham is making national headlines this week as the top historically black college and university in the country.

The honor was given during the HBCU Digest Awards in Washington, D.C., this month. 

NC Central’s Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise, known as BRITE, was named as the best STEM program. 

The school’s newspaper, Campus Echo, was also recognized as the best student newspaper.
