Staten Islanders are officially ready to dive into summer.
The Parks Department kicked-off the swimming season Tuesday with a ceremonial jump into Faber Pool.
Starting Wednesday, pools across the city will be open everyday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with an hour break at 3 p.m.
Officials say swimmers can look forward to a full schedule of free programming and classes.
But before you take a dip - they also have some important safety tips.
"We want people to have fun, but to make sure they're water safe. Listen to the lifeguards, don't go in the pool if there's no lifeguard on duty. If you have a child always keep your eye on the child," said NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver.
More good news for swimmers, city beaches and pools will stay open an extra week this year, through September 11th.
