FORT BRAGG -- It's been very busy for the members of the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment at Simmons Army Air Field. The squadron operates one of the final two Kiowa helicopter units in the entire Army.
On Friday, the squadron will take part in a special training mission that will be a kind of big goodbye for the helicopter to Fort Bragg and Fayetteville. All 30 Kiowas in the squadron will fly in formation over the post and downtown Fayetteville.
Time Warner Cable News reporter David Ivey spoke with squadron members as they prepare for this last formation on Friday.
