DURHAM, N.C. - A Durham police officer has been arrested after authorities say he rented out an apartment he got for a discount.

Police said in a news release that 24-year-old D.M. Yuengling is charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Investigators say Yuengling agreed to provide security for an apartment complex in exchange for discounted rent.

But authorities say instead of living there, Yuengling sublet the apartment to someone else and kept the $540 he made.

Yuengling joined Durham Police in January 2014. He has been suspended without pay. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
