WASHINGTON—The FDA has ordered North Carolina-based Reynolds Tobacco to stop the sales of four cigarette brands.

The agency's order was based over concerns that differences in the products might raise additional health concerns.

Targeted brands:
• Reynolds Camel Crush Bold
• Pall Mall deep set recessed filter
• Pall Mall deep set recessed filter menthol
• Vantage tech 13

The FDA states that the cigarettes have different characteristics than previous products and the company failed to show that they don't raise different public health questions. The Camel Crush has a crushable capsule that releases additional menthol flavoring. The FDA says it doesn't plan on taking enforcement action on products previously purchased by retailers for 30 days.

Failure to comply with the order could bring civil penalties or criminal prosecution.
