DURHAM -- Over the last 10 years, the Durham Performing Arts Center has drawn some of the biggest name acts, performers and shows to the stage. The incredible artists have helped the center sell out crowds and draw in happy customers, but it's also caused a little wear and tear on the facility. So the performing arts center recently underwent nearly $2 million in renovations to install new seats and carpet throughout the building. Officials there say it is helping keep the center in line with other top theaters in the country.

We spoke with Durham City officials who say mechanical upgrades are next on the list, and more work will continue on the facility later this summer.

But for now, they're looking ahead to 2018, where the DPAC is welcoming in major acts like Jerry Seinfeld, Patti Labelle and Broadway performances like "The Color Purple" and "Hamilton."

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair gives us a behind the scenes look at the upgrades and a glance at what's to come at the DPAC this year.
