CHAPEL HILL -- More than 300 high school students from East Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro high schools hosted a dance marathon for the first time Saturday night.

The event benefits the Carolina for the Kids Foundation, raising money for the UNC Hospital pediatric oncology unit and building a primary care clinic for the pediatric wing.

“It's just really great to bring the community together to support such a great cause, and those children who are also part of our community,” said East Chapel Hill senior Davida Halev. “Getting all the high schools together is really great, but also the parents and the Carolina FTK people, it's just really amazing to see everything come together like it does."

The students were on the floor dancing from 6 p.m. until midnight.
