Spectrum News 1 officially welcomed its newest member of the Weather on the 1s team Friday morning. Britney Hamilton takes on the role of weekday meteorologist primarily for the Greensboro-Triad area.

What You Need To Know

  • Britney joined the Spectrum News 1 team

  • She originally grew up in Charlotte

  • She'll forecast primarily for the Greensboro-Triad area

Like the other members of the state's largest weather team, Britney will also lead and assist with weather coverage for the state when needed.

Britney is no stranger to North Carolina, growing up in Charlotte and attending Providence High School. Post high school, Britney attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for her undergrad degree before attending North Carolina A&T for grad school.

One of Britney's most memorable weather events in her career was Hurricane Florence. Britney recalls "the amount of rain and flooding that occurred from the slow-moving nature of the storm was wild to see and the impacts after the fact."

Britney's favorite part about being an on-air meteorologist is being a resource for viewers no matter what type of weather is going on. During severe weather and big impact events, she loves being the go-to person for information to keep viewers safe.

When asked what viewers should expect when seeing her on air, Britney states, "you can always expect a relevant, understandable forecast. And lots of times, you can expect my somewhat goofy personality to shine through. I love to laugh, and I hope I can bring some brightness to your mornings!"
