WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem City Council unanimously approves Monday the so-called brunch bill.
The ordinance allows alcoholic beverage sales to begin this Sunday starting at 10 a.m. at retailers, bars and restaurants. Previously, state law banned sales until noon on Sundays. This comes nearly two months after Gov. Roy Cooper signed House Bill 155 allowing local governments to decide whether or not to adopt the change
"It's just better. It's going to build more revenue for Winston-Salem in general which is going to be awesome,” said bartender Kelly Bone at Willow’s Bistro. “It's going to build business, for small businesses, for us."
The Twin City joins Greensboro, Fayetteville, Raleigh, Charlotte and many other municipalities that passed a similar ordinance.
