Workers at Amazon’s Rock Tavern facility in the Hudson Valley are speaking out, weeks after a TikTok video of them addressing management went viral.

Amazon workers told Spectrum News 1 that break policy recently shifted, going from two paid 15-minute breaks to one paid 30-minute break. Workers say consolidating the breaks have put increased strain on their bodies and is putting them at risk for injury.

“This is Amazon's attempt to put productivity over worker safety," said employee Nik Moran. "I feel a lot more tired, and I feel like there's a pressure to perform more work in a short amount of time.”

Workers said they plan to continue to build solidarity at the facility.

An Amazon spokesperson responded.

"This change in break time is based on feedback from employees, and also aligns with the rest of our operations at similar sites. Keeping employees safe is our top priority and we offer our employees above and beyond what is required by the state regarding break times.”
