WORCESTER, Mass. - The city of Worcester is throwing a three-day 300th birthday celebration this weekend with fireworks, a parade, a concert and more.
The party starts Friday at 5 p.m. with the Tercentennial Weekend Kickoff, featuring the Canal District Stroll and fireworks at Polar Park. Grafton native and runner-up on NBC's "The Voice," Ricky Duran, will be performing the National Anthem.
Admission to the fireworks is free, but tickets are required. Tickets can be picked up at the WooSox ticket office at Polar Park in-person or by calling 508-500-8888. Tickets can also be ordered online.
The Tercentennial 5K road race starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the Tercentennial Parade in downtown Worcester at 11 a.m. and the Tercentennial Festival on the Worcester Common at 12 p.m. The festival will have food trucks, live music, vendors and more.
Two Tercentennial events are taking place on Sunday at 4 p.m.:
- The DCU Center hosts the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra with special guest Brian McKnight. Tickets are free to the concert and can be ordered from Ticketmaster.
- The Worcester Bravehearts host the New Britain Bees at Fitton Field for a special Tercentennial game and celebration
