GREENSBORO, N.C. — Music icons Beyoncé and Jay-Z are partnering with Tiffany and Company to launch the About Love Scholarship Program, where they'll be giving away $2 million in scholarships for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Bennett College in Greensboro was selected as one of the recipients of the program. The school will receive $400,000 for scholarships. This money will be going toward students majoring in arts and creative fields.
Katiya Laster, a journalism and media studies major, says this money would allow her to purchase her own equipment to film and edit stories.
"The first thing that I ever did was record 'The Weekly Ring' in those chairs. So, I have learned how to work the lights over there. This building has been instrumental during my time here at Bennett," Laster said.
Laster is still waiting to hear if she won the scholarship. Recipients have yet to be announced.
