GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- The chairman of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners is calling for an emergency meeting Monday afternoon to discuss a possible countywide mask mandate.
Chairman Melvin 'Skip' Alston will meet with local mayors, hospital representatives, public health officials and county staff members, according the News and Record. The leaders plan to consider reinstating a mask mandate and potentially requiring county employees get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Guilford County currently has a high rate of community transmissions, according to the CDC.
Local leaders will meet at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be closed to the public.
