WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A North Carolina woman is using her hurt to help other people during the pandemic.

Shay Johnson is the founder of The Balanced Box, a spiritual wellness subscription for people to learn how to heal, love and be the best version of themselves.

Johnson started meditating when the pandemic hit after noticing she was struggling with anxiety.

“Anxiousness, nervousness and just feeling unfulfilled," Johnson said. 

Johnson holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Winston-Salem State University. She's currently pursuing a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. She says her goal is to help people get through life's stressors.

“Sometimes we don’t know how to switch in-between those roles and it becomes overwhelming, so balance is key in anything that we do," Johnson said. "And so, The Balanced Box teaches us to do that."
