MOCKSVILLE, N.C. – Plans for a paramilitary training center in central North Carolina have drawn fire from neighbors because they'd see their quiet lives disturbed by thousands of gunshots a day.
Jarrell Price has lived in his home for 17 years in Davie County.
He was a police officer for eight years and is a supporter of the Second Amendment, but he's strongly against the proposed paramilitary training center, which would be a 40-acre outdoor shooting range.
“It sounded like a war zone Saturday morning right straight south. That's with just a minimum of people practicing,” Price emphasizes.
Recoil Management Academy says it is taking extra precautions to keep neighbors safe with the proposed training center at a hearing this week, but refused further comment.
A decision about whether or not to approve the center is expected next week.
