GREENSBORO, N.C. – Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro is celebrating its first build of the new year with a kick-off ceremony.
Everything has been on hold because of the pandemic.
Ahmed Ahmed and his family are seeing their new property for the first time.
They moved to the United States from Sudan, and he says Habitat for Humanity made the transition so much easier and more affordable.
Volunteers and employees are also excited about giving this family a chance at a new life.
“People are here. This is where they wanted to be and they really care about what they're doing. So that's a pretty grand thing too, to be surrounded by people who really care about getting it right, instead of just care about getting it done,” emphasizes Site Superintendent Tandy Brown.
Habitat for Humanity is also putting the family through financing and budgeting classes to help set them up for success.
