GREENSBORO, N.C. – After gaining national attention, a North Carolina mural of George Floyd is being donated to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.

Greensboro artist Jenna Rice created the mural and says art is her way of expressing her voice and emotions.

Rice says she hopes this portrait will help remind people of George Floyd and the movement his death started for change in the future.

"I thought that having a beautiful tribute to and a memorial of George Floyd out there on the street especially during all the protesting (would do that)," Rice says.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture will pick up the mural once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
