CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Republican National Convention communications director says the executive committee has voted unanimously to allow the official business of the national convention to take place in Charlotte as planned.

They also say the president's acceptance of the nomination will not happen there. This comes after the president announced plans to find a new state to hold the RNC over disputes with Gov. Roy Cooper about whether or not a full convention would be allowed amid coronavirus concerns.

In a back and forth in letters and tweets, the governor said North Carolina was still happy to host the convention in August, but, only if it could be done safely. He says it's still too early to tell what things will look like later this summer, to commit to a full, packed arena.
