ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. – An Alamance County family is picking up the pieces after an EF-1 tornado ripped through their farm on Monday morning.
At around 6 a.m. on Monday, the EF-1 tornado took its course through the Snow Camp area of Alamance County, leaving behind nothing but destruction. With winds peaking at 110 mph, it ripped trees out of the ground, took off siding, and destroyed buildings.
Carol Lamm told us there is a lot to do to clean up, but it could have been much worse.
"I'm still alive." Lamm said. "When I woke up this morning I told my husband, at least we have a roof over our head," she added.
Carol has lived on the farm for 77 years, she now lives in the house her father was born in. Her son lives on the property with his family too.
Luckily, their houses are in good shape.
"How more blessed can I be?" Lamm said.
Crews will be spending the next week cleaning up the mess the tornado left behind. She just wants to remind people to take the warnings seriously.
