The 19-year-old Tonawanda man who accidentally shot his girlfriend in the leg at the Texas De Brazil restaurant Thursday appeared in court Friday morning.

Anthony Ciccarelli is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.

It was a quick appearance, with Cheektowaga Judge David Stevens only setting his bail.

Ciccarelli’s lawyer asked if he could be released under supervision, but Judge Stevens said because of the seriousness of the allegations, he instead set a $1,500 cash bail.

The Cheektowaga Police Chief said Ciccarelli did not have a pistol permit.

Just before 6 p.m. Thursday, police say Ciccarelli reached in his pocket when he got his bill at the restaurant and accidentally fired his gun, shooting his girlfriend in the leg.

She was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be ok.

Cheektowaga police have not released more details.

The Walden Galleria says it’s working with police and stressed all guests’ safety always comes first.

"The safety of our guests, tenants, and employees is our highest priority at Walden Galleria,” the mall said in a statement. “There is no danger to the public. The center will remain open and operate under normal business hours during this investigation."

Ciccarelli is expected to be in court again next week.
