GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Guilford County is taking a different approach to train professionals who work with domestic violence victims, where professionals listen and learn from survivors about their experiences.
- This is a part of the county’s ‘Abuse is Never Okay’ campaign
- Domestic violence survivor Brenda White said this type of training is very powerful because professionals who work with abuse victims and survivors got to hear her and others stories, insights, and thoughts on what can improve
- She said the Guilford County Family Justice Center is a one-stop shop for victims because it offers counseling, healthcare, protection, and more
This is a part of the county’s ‘Abuse is Never Okay’ campaign.
Domestic violence survivor Brenda White spoke on the panel along with four other survivors.
She said this type of training is very powerful because professionals who work with abuse victims and survivors got to hear her and others stories, insights, and thoughts on what can improve.
“Our counseling was different, our healing processes were different, so they were able to take all the information back into to help those in their community, or in their churches, or in their jobs,” explained White.
She said the Guilford County Family Justice Center is a one-stop shop for victims because it offers counseling, healthcare, protection, and more.
