GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A new resource for the LGBTQ community is opening soon in downtown Greensboro.

  • The Guilford Green Foundation's LGBTQ Center will provide resources and a safe place to host meetings
  • The center will offer everything from a transgender clothing closet to game nights and yoga
  • Its grand opening is Friday, January 17

The Guilford Green Foundation's LGBTQ Center will provide resources and a safe place to host meetings.

It's the only place like it in Greensboro with a dedicated paid staff.

Organizers say having the central location on Greene Street is key.

"We want to be centrally located so that people don't have to hunt us and find us," says Executive Director Jennifer Ruppe. "If you're wondering where to get help, you should just be able to walk down the street downtown and see us."

The center will offer everything from a transgender clothing closet to game nights and yoga.

Its grand opening is Friday, January 17.
