RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. - A 9-year-old boy with a failing heart in Asheboro got more than he could have imagined for Christmas thanks to support from the Randolph County community.
- William Sidebottom, 9, has a failing, transplanted heart
- His Christmas wish was to receive Christmas cards
- His school and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office gave him thousands of cards along with a car show and other gifts
William Sidebottom's transplanted heart isn't working properly, and doctors don't know how long he has to live.
He had one wish for Christmas, to receive Christmas cards, but the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and his school gave him a lot more.
They gave him a car show, gifts, and thousands of Christmas cards, which William said helps him get through this difficult time.
“It helps me to forget about certain things that I don't want to think of,” Sidebottom said.
This cause has gotten worldwide attention. William received letters from as far away as Australia.
