HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Voters in High Point had several decisions to make in Tuesday's election about both the look and leadership of the city.

  • High Point has elected Jay Wagner as mayor.
  • $21.5 million for Parks and Recreation was approved.
  • Voters said yes to a $22 million bond for transportaion. 
  • $6.5 million for about affordable housing was also approved by voters.

The mayor's office and all nine seats of city council were up for grabs.

Jay Wagner has been elected High Point's mayor.

High Point Council Ward 1 elect is Cyril Jefferson. Ward 2 is Chris Williams, Ward 3 is Monica Peters, Ward 4 is Wesley Hudson and Ward 5 is Vic Jones.

Ward 6 appears to have come down to 3 votes, favoring Michael Holmes.

There were also three bond-related questions on the ballot.

One question is about $21.5 million for Parks and Recreation. Voters have chosen "yes" for this bond.

It will fund phase one of the City Lake Park Improvement Project that includes upgrading the pool and helping to build a new senior center.

Voters also decided "yes" on a $22 million bond for transportaion.

The third bond, which is $6.5 million, is about affordable housing. Voters overwhelmingly voted "yes" to this bond.
