The threat of Hurricane Dorian and its 140 mile per hour winds is prompting some to steer clear of the storm, and some Florida residents are heading north to stay with relatives in Rochester before things get worse.

The 9:55 a.m. Southwest flight from Orlando was right on schedule Friday, and Donna Seely was thankful for that.

"Our houses are built to withstand 140 to 150 mph winds," she said. "I don't want to be there to find out."

Seely moved to The Villages in Central Florida six years ago. Experience with past storms told her she should get out of town and come stay with her daughter, Shannon, who lives in Caledonia.

"I watch The Weather Channel like my job," said Shannon Seely, as she waited for her mother to arrive.

Donna Seely was nervous, not only because of the hurricane but because she wasn't sure she’d even be able to leave.

Her husband decided to stay behind and ride the storm out. Seely purchased a one-way ticket.

"I paid a little more than I normally would," she said. "But I don't care."
